Moving to Iceland

Recently I moved to Iceland and I didn't go there in the most eco-friendly way. In fact I flew there, but I made that decision due to the other ways of travel being atleast 10 times longer and more expensive. First I flew to Copenhagen and then to Reykjavik. Unfortunately I didn't do a carbon offset to save money but in the future I would love to do so. That was not the only not eco-friendly decision I made. Because I got hungry I did end up buying a sandwich packaged in plastic. But let's be honest the zero waste lifestyle does not mean you do it perfectly, it means you try your best. But what I was able to do during my travels- used my own bottle that I filled up in airports but I advise to look into if the airport has a clean drinking water machine or if the water there is drinkable. I drank water that was not the best. But I would like to say that if you forgot your water bottle or can't fill it anywhere then buy water in a plastic bottle. You need to keep yourself healthy and it doesn't mean you didn't try your best. I also had a big meal at home before my first flight to avoid buying expensive and often packaged airport food. It would be smart to bring fruit and some snacks with you because you will get hungry if it is a longer flight or you have more then one flight. I took more of a minimalist approach to moving- I limited myself to only a 23 kg luggage and 8 kg carry-on. I can successfully say that I did it eventhough my luggage may have been more like 24 kgs and the weight of my carry-on is unknown because (thankfully) nobody weighed it. I only packed clothes and items I love and that go well together. So now i don't need to buy clothes when I get there. Except I'm on a lookout for a good sweater and I am pretty sure I will find a good one there. And probably need to get myself winter boots, too because I don't own any at the moment and yes, I packed everything for 10 months including two winter coats with me(I wore one to the airport). I also found some fairly good second hand-stores in Reykjavik last time I went so now I wanna take a look into those. Big thanks to everybody, who was excited for me moving here and who said good words. Takk fyrir. Lots of love from Iceland <3
