Little update on my low waste life

If I am being honest, than I have become lazy when it comes to zero waste living since moving to Iceland. Because I am still getting used to the new life and new places, than I haven't been ready for unpredictable situations, but I am slowly learning. In Estonia I didn't visit a lot of coffee houses but here I visit them fairly often and will take my cacao of coffee in a reusable to-go cup. My family her already owned 2 beautiful cups, so I can always carry one or 2 of them around. Another mistake I have done is not taking my reusable fruit nets with me when I go to the store. My new goal is to always have them with me. When I do make the mistake I either buy things without a bag or if I use a plastic bag than the store makes me pay for it. Also in another store called Krónan you can buy fruits in paper bags. These changes are happening due to the new law coming in 2021 that bans the use of single use plastics, which include plastic straws, cotton pads and plastic cutlery. Due to 80% of marine plastic being plastic, then with this law they are trying to get plastic pollution under control. I bet you have seen the posts of "When you see that your bathtub is overflowing, you first close the tap and then clean up". The same is happening in this situation. In addition to all of this EU's new laws want to reach the goal to collect and recycle 90% of plastic bottles. Under the new European law, tobacco companies will be required to cover the costs for the collection of cigarette butts and manufacturers of fishing gear will also have to pay for the retrieval of any plastic nets that have been left at sea. About my zero waste, I would say more low waste, lifestyle I would like to point out that I live with family and everyday grocery shopping is done by my mother-in-law and formerly by my parents, due to that I don't see all the zero waste struggles and new finds about the shopping side of things. But I do all the simpler things like getting my hygiene products and period products zero waste. Also at my work I use a reusable cup instead of using a single-use one every day. When I start doing all my grocery shopping myself than I will post about it right away.
