4 months in Iceland and going home

Getting used to everything here has taken me a full 4 months. At first it seemed like paperwork and making bank accounts and other little life things were endless. I did things because I had to not because I wanted to. First taste of independence. Then I started working here and the only thing missing was friends. For the first month or so I was good with the family here being my friends, but as time went by I wanted my friends. I have now become good friends with Björgvin's friends and with my co-workers. Btw here the age you can buy alcohol and go to clubs is 20. I feel 17 again. I was so used to not having that limitation, but oh well guess I need to wait another half a year and then I don't have to worry about that anymore.
The main time we meet up with friends is for game nights and we are hardcore board game fans. We own two versions of Ticket to Ride, Dungeons & Dragons, Secret Hitler, Rising Sun and Magic The Gathering. I would have never thought that Björgvin would be as big of a fan as me and that so many friends would like to join. In addition, I mocked playing Magic, but now I am a huge fan. He owned 4 decks, if I am not wrong, before I came and now we have bought 6 more decks and I was gifted one for Christmas.
So we have good company, who to play with and those night have been superfun. But before Björgvin's best friend's birthday party the word spread that I like magic and I ended up having cool conversations because of it and we ended up finding more people to play with. Magic nights and game nights are happening.
I get along well with my coworkers and have spent time with them outside of work too. I have gotten used to my job by now, I would only like to start working earlier because Björgvin is now is school from 8 to 4.
I am happy that I seem to understand quite a lot of Icelandic now. The bad thing is that I am afraid to speak back, but if I do understand I answer in simple icelandic or English. I have bought myself books on learning Icelandic and I am applying to university here to possibly start learning Icelandic from October until June. Also it is cheaper than taking separate language courses. If I get accepted then I shall stay here for another year.
I am excited about going home, but not looking forward to the flight home. I have to take two flights and then a car ride home with my parents which I am very excited about. I'll be home for 2 weeks and can see all my friends and family. I will finally see my cat Saara, my mum, dad and friends. I can see Remi again, who did not know how to walk when I moved and is now running around. A lot can change in 4 months. The flight back to Iceland will be bittersweet.
Even though I don't need to carry many clothes with me, but a lot of gifts need to be taken home on to Estonia and also to Iceland. So I will be still travelling with a big suitcase, but I will have no problem with packing. If I was able to fit my whole life into that suitcase, then I will for sure be able to fit some clothes and plenty of presents.
